Police Find Stolen Phones in Switzerland

Authorities in Italy have uncovered a significant stash of stolen mobile phones, totaling 121 devices, hidden in tin foil by a man attempting to smuggle them into the country. The suspect, a 40-year-old Romanian national, was apprehended while traveling on a train from Zurich to Milan. The phones, which included 71 iPhones and 29 Samsung models, were found wrapped in foil packages concealed within a thick blanket in his luggage. The discovery was made by customs officials in Chiasso, Switzerland, who determined that the phones had been reported lost or stolen during Zurich's Street Parade dance music festival on August 10. Video footage released by the police showed the packages containing multiple phones stacked together, highlighting the extent of the smuggling operation. The Romanian man was arrested for receiving stolen goods, and authorities are now working to return the recovered phones to their rightful owners. In a related case, a man known as "London's most notorious phone snatcher" was sentenced to two years in prison for using an electric motorbike to steal 24 phones in a single morning.
