Story

In October 2023, Cindy Rodriguez Singh was indicted on capital murder charges related to the suspected death of her six-year-old son, Noel Rodriguez Alvarez, in Texas. The boy was last seen in October 2022, around the time of the birth of his twin sisters. Authorities conducted a welfare check in March 2023 after reports of his absence, only to find Rodriguez Singh allegedly lying about his whereabouts, claiming that he was living with his biological father in Mexico. Soon after, she fled the United States to India with her husband and six other children, but Noel was notably absent from the flight. His mother had applied for passports for all the children except him before the flight departed. Following an investigation initiated by local police, the FBI placed Rodriguez Singh on their Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list in July 2023, offering a reward for her capture. On Thursday, after over two years on the run, she was arrested in India and extradited back to Texas, where she was booked into the Tarrant County Jail with a $10 million bond. The case has evoked significant concern within the community where Rodriguez Singh lived, with residents expressing relief and hope for justice for Noel. Community members have voiced their devastation over the disappearance of the young boy and are eager for closure as authorities continue to search for his remains, despite no body having been recovered thus far.
