Manchester City players Phil Foden and Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw have been awarded the titles of men’s and women’s player of the year, respectively, at the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) awards held on Tuesday evening. Foden, 24, played a pivotal role in securing City’s fourth consecutive Premier League title, netting 19 goals and providing eight assists. Expressing gratitude for the recognition, he emphasized the importance of peer acknowledgment and the team's focus on future successes. Shaw, the 27-year-old Jamaican forward, was recognized for her outstanding performance in the Women’s Super League, where she finished as the top scorer with 21 goals. Despite Manchester City finishing second to Chelsea on goal difference, Shaw expressed pride in receiving the award, highlighting the significance of being honored by fellow players. In addition to the main awards, Chelsea's Cole Palmer was named the men’s PFA young player of the year, while Manchester United’s Grace Clinton received the women’s young player award after a successful loan spell at Tottenham. Palmer, who scored 22 goals, was second only to City’s Erling Haaland in the Premier League scoring charts. Clinton made a notable impact with four goals and four assists in 20 appearances. The ceremony also recognized Fara Williams with a PFA Merit award for her remarkable career, including 172 caps for England, and celebrated other players like Alfie May and Crysencio Summerville for their achievements in League One and the Championship, respectively.
