Richardson Electronics launches new monitoring relays for wind energy systems

On May 27, 2025, Richardson Electronics, Ltd., based in LaFox, Illinois, announced the introduction of a new line of TurbineGuard monitoring relays designed specifically for the renewable energy sector. This launch comes amid increasing safety demands for aging turbine fleets that face obsolescence issues with key voltage and temperature relays. The newly developed TurbineGuard Temperature Signal Relay and TurbineGuard Voltage Signal Relay aim to provide owner-operators with enhanced visibility of their turbine systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with regulatory standards. The TurbineGuard Temperature Signal Relay features an LCD readout that displays temperature, programmable set points, and a push-button trigger for heater testing. This device allows for the use of existing harnesses and connectors, eliminating the need for rewiring, thus simplifying installation. The Voltage Signal Relay, on the other hand, is compatible with both ultracapacitor and lead-acid battery technologies and also includes a voltage LCD readout with programmable set points. These advancements are particularly significant given the energy industry's growing emphasis on maintaining reliability in wind power generation. The aging fleet of wind turbines necessitates innovative solutions that can integrate seamlessly with existing equipment while providing enhanced monitoring capabilities.
