Story

A 56-year-old man has been charged with 110 offences related to the alleged inappropriate filming and photographing of young girls and women at the Mt Ommaney shopping centre in Queensland. The charges stem from an incident on January 6, when the man reportedly used a walking stick equipped with a camera to film a 12-year-old girl on an escalator. The girl's family alerted authorities, leading to the man's arrest on January 11. Upon his arrest, police seized the man's camera, which allegedly contained numerous indecent videos and photographs of women taken without their consent in public areas of the shopping centre. Following this, a search warrant was executed at the man's residence in Jamboree Heights, where investigators reportedly found an electronic storage device with similar illicit content. This discovery prompted additional charges against the man. In total, the man faces 106 counts of observing or recording in breach of privacy, along with one count of indecent treatment of a child under 16, attempted recordings in breach of privacy, and two counts of stalking. He was remanded in custody after appearing in Brisbane Magistrates Court on February 28 and is scheduled to return to court on August 23. Queensland police are urging anyone with further information regarding the case to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
