On October 25, 2024, SoftBank Corp. and Fujitsu Limited committed to enhancing their collaboration in order to advance the commercialization of AI-RAN technology, a new architecture that integrates AI with Radio Access Networks, with an eye toward deployment in 2026 and beyond. Their agreement includes the establishment of a verification laboratory at Fujitsu's Dallas, Texas site to validate the hardware, software, and applications integral to AI-RAN while fostering new business development. Alongside these efforts, ongoing joint research and development will focus on software innovations aimed at improving RAN performance using AI insights gained from an outdoor proof-of-concept initiated in October 2024.
