Story

In Schaumburg, Illinois on May 19, 2025, ISACA unveiled a new certification aimed at audit professionals dealing with artificial intelligence (AI) challenges. The Advanced in AI Audit (AAIA) certification is specifically designed for experienced auditors to address the complexities of AI in audit processes. Given the rapid evolution of technology, particularly in AI, a recent LinkedIn report highlighted AI literacy as a crucial skill needed by professionals to remain competitive. The introduction of AAIA certification responds to a demand among auditors to enhance their skills and knowledge regarding AI integration in audits. Highlights of this certification include capabilities to manage AI governance, risk management, and auditing through AI-driven insights. Additionally, the certification validates expertise in tackling these issues while ensuring compliance and organizational integrity. It builds on ISACA's established trust and expertise in IT audit and other renowned certifications like Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), and Certified Public Accountant (CPA). This push for AI competency stems from a survey where 85 percent of digital trust professionals indicated the necessity of increasing their AI skills within the next two years to advance in their careers. The need is further reinforced by the broader trend reflecting that 94 percent acknowledge AI skills as critical for digital trust professionals. To support this initiative, ISACA also provides various resources, including the AAIA Review Manual, an Online Review Course, and a Questions, Answers, and Explanations Database (QAE) to ensure comprehensive exam preparation. ISACA has been actively engaged in serving the global audit community for over 55 years. Through this new certification, authorities aim to equip auditors with the skills needed to thrive in the new tech-driven landscape. This strategic move not only highlights ISACA's commitment to the professional development of the audit community but also recognizes the evolving demands of compliance and risk management in an era increasingly influenced by AI technologies.
