On November 7, 2024, the Global Battery Alliance (GBA) revealed the results of the 2024 Battery Passport pilots during its Annual General Meeting in Shanghai and Ningde. This collaborative initiative included ten consortia led by prominent battery cell manufacturers, who worked together to develop harmonized standards for battery sustainability. As a key participant, CATL led two pilot projects focusing on its Shenxing and CTP batteries, demonstrating a commitment to transparency in the battery value chain. The pilots aimed to enhance accountability in the sourcing of critical materials such as lithium, graphite, and cobalt, with independent verification of data outcomes. CATL reported back on these initiatives, achieving an overall carbon footprint of 49 kgCO2eq/kwh across both programs. This notable achievement underscores the company’s dedication to minimizing emissions through improved environmental practices.
