On July 17, 2024, Team USA faced off against Serbia in a highly anticipated Men’s Basketball exhibition during the USA Basketball Showcase in Abu Dhabi. Among the players was Ohio native Micah Potter, who, alongside Nigel Hayes-Davis and Langston Galloway, represented the Select Team, gaining a rare opportunity to travel with the senior squad. Potter's inclusion was attributed to his connection with assistant coach Wojciechowski and his unique skills as a big man, particularly his shooting and floor spacing abilities. Reflecting on his experience, Potter expressed a sense of pride and accomplishment after hitting a three-pointer during the game. He noted the significance of playing alongside some of the greatest talents in basketball history, including Stephen Curry and Joel Embiid, both of whom were participating in their first Olympic preparations. “After the game, you look back, you’re like, ‘Wow, I just hit a three for Team USA,’” Potter recalled, highlighting the thrill of competing at such a high level. Despite having only a limited amount of NBA experience, Potter embraced the challenge of proving his worth on the international stage. His performance in the exhibition not only showcased his skills but also solidified his place within the team as they gear up for the upcoming Olympics. With the Jazz next on his agenda, Potter is eager to continue demonstrating his capabilities and secure his position in the league.
