Phil Foden has achieved a remarkable feat by being named the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Men’s Player of the Year, completing a clean sweep of top individual awards in English football. The Manchester City star expressed his pride and gratitude for the recognition from his fellow players, emphasizing the importance of their acknowledgment. Foden's outstanding performances last season, including 19 league goals, were pivotal in securing Manchester City's record-breaking fourth consecutive Premier League title. The PFA awards ceremony, held at the Manchester Opera House, also celebrated Khadija "Bunny" Shaw, who won the Women’s Player of the Year award. Shaw, who had an exceptional season scoring 21 goals, previously received the FWA Women’s Footballer of the Year accolade. Both players' achievements highlight Manchester City's dominance in English football, with Foden stepping up significantly in the absence of Kevin De Bruyne. In addition to Foden's accolades, Chelsea's Cole Palmer was named the Men’s Young Player of the Year, while Manchester United's Grace Clinton took home the Women’s Young Player award. Foden's inclusion in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year marks his first selection, joining teammates Erling Haaland and Rodri, who were also recognized for their contributions to City’s success. Despite Manchester City’s triumph, Arsenal had the most players represented in the Team of the Year, with five selections, including notable performances from Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard. The awards reflect a competitive season in both the men’s and women’s leagues, showcasing the talent and dedication of players across the board.
