Sheffield artist Daniel Halksworth showcases unique fried egg art

Daniel Halksworth, an artist from Sheffield, turned to painting during the COVID-19 lockdown after his girlfriend lost her retail job. He began creating realistic oil paintings of fried eggs, inspired by the brunches they shared. Initially, he painted one egg, which quickly attracted local buyers, prompting him to create more. Over four years, he has produced 615 variations, including different styles and presentations, while enjoying the process of painting each one. His unique art has gained significant popularity, leading to shipments to 30 countries and a diverse clientele, including celebrities. The couple's creative approach includes taking reference photos of the eggs before enjoying them as part of their meals. This method not only provides inspiration but also adds a personal touch to his work. In early 2024, one of Halksworth's paintings was featured in a Super Bowl commercial for Hellmann's mayonnaise, showcasing his art to a wider audience. This exposure has further solidified his reputation as an artist specializing in food-related themes, although fried eggs remain his most sought-after subject. Despite the extensive number of paintings he has completed, Halksworth expresses that his enthusiasm for the subject has not waned. He continues to find joy in each new piece, treating every painting as a fresh experience, which reflects his passion and dedication to his craft.
