Chief Minister Eknath Shinde conducted a thorough review of the Thane-Nashik highway, focusing on ongoing road conditions and infrastructure improvements. During his visit to Kharegaon, where a new bridge is under construction, Shinde issued several directives to local officials. His inspection followed a meeting held at the Sahyadri guest house, emphasizing the urgent need for repairs due to the highway's deteriorating state over the past 20 days. To address the issue of potholes, Shinde announced the use of an innovative geopolymer mixture known as Quick Rapid Hardening M60. This new material is expected to enhance the durability of the road, preventing future potholes by solidifying the road's base. The Chief Minister highlighted the collaborative efforts of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Public Works Department (PWD), and Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) in ensuring a smoother highway experience. In addition to the repairs, Shinde issued urgent directives for the maintenance of major highways, including the Thane-Nashik and Mumbai-Ahmedabad routes. He stressed the importance of swift execution and high-quality standards in the repair work, warning that any obstruction could lead to criminal charges against those responsible. Furthermore, the Chief Minister instructed the Konkan Division Commissioner to regulate heavy vehicle traffic along the Nashik highway, including the establishment of designated parking areas. He mandated restrictions on heavy traffic during peak hours to alleviate congestion and enhance road safety.
