A Massachusetts hair salon owner, Alicia Powers, has expressed her outrage after law enforcement officials allegedly entered her business without permission during a campaign event for Vice President Kamala Harris last month. Powers described her feelings as “violated” and “disrespected” in an interview with Spectrum News 1 Worcester, highlighting the unexpected nature of the incident. The specific law enforcement agency involved remains unclear, although the Secret Service typically collaborates with local and state agencies to secure events for protected individuals. Following the incident, a representative from the U.S. Secret Service reportedly reached out to Powers to offer an apology. However, the agency has not confirmed whether one of its agents was responsible for the unauthorized entry. In a statement, Secret Service spokesperson Melissa McKenzie emphasized the agency's commitment to maintaining respectful relationships with business owners and stated that personnel would not enter a business without the owner's consent. The campaign event took place at The Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield on July 27. In a video obtained by Spectrum News 1 Worcester, an individual is seen tampering with a camera on the salon’s front porch, raising further concerns about privacy and security. Meanwhile, the Pittsfield Police Department has denied any involvement in the incident, with Chief Dawley reportedly reaching out to Powers, who praised the department's handling of the situation. CNN has sought additional comments from Powers regarding the incident.
