The Mahaswachhta Abhiyan, a cleanliness initiative launched by the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC), garnered significant community involvement from August 1 to 15. Approximately 60,000 residents joined the campaign, which encouraged individuals to dedicate one hour to cleaning their local environments. CSMC administrator G Srikanth spearheaded the initiative, while Deputy Municipal Commissioner Ravindra Jogdand managed its execution, emphasizing the importance of cleanliness through the slogan "Clean, Green, and Beautiful Sambhajinagar." The campaign attracted a diverse group of participants, including local leaders, professionals from various sectors, students, and representatives from self-help groups and unions. Residents actively engaged in cleaning efforts, taking oaths to maintain cleanliness and reduce plastic usage. Over the 15-day period, the initiative successfully collected 1,005 tonnes of both dry and wet waste, alongside 1,410 tonnes of construction debris, significantly improving the city's cleanliness. In addition to waste collection, the campaign also focused on environmental sustainability, with over 17,000 saplings planted throughout the city. Numerous rallies were organized to promote awareness about cleanliness, drawing large crowds of local residents and students. A total of 861 campaigns were conducted across various neighborhoods, showcasing the collaborative spirit of the community and the commitment to a cleaner, greener Sambhajinagar. The initiative stands as a testament to the power of collective action in addressing urban cleanliness challenges.
