MIAMI - A tragic domestic incident in Hialeah early Wednesday morning resulted in the stabbing of three family members, prompting questions from relatives about the motives behind the violence. Family members identified the victims as Amanda Gonzalez, her mother Madelyne, and her grandmother Rosa, all allegedly attacked by Amanda's brother, Alex, who is reported to be in his 20s and struggling with mental health issues. A cousin of Amanda expressed deep concern and confusion, stating, "I have many questions. I just pray for her and this hurts a lot." The Hialeah Police responded to a call about a domestic disturbance shortly before 4:30 AM. Upon arrival, officers encountered a woman outside the home who had been stabbed and discovered two additional victims inside. Lt. Eddie Rodriguez confirmed that as officers provided aid, a confrontation ensued with the armed suspect, leading to police discharging their weapons. Steadman Stahl, President of the South Florida PBA, representing one of the involved officers, explained that the suspect directed his aggression towards the police upon their arrival. Despite multiple commands to drop the weapon, the suspect did not comply, forcing officers to act in defense. Stahl emphasized the unpredictable nature of family disputes, highlighting the split-second decisions officers must make when confronted with life-threatening situations.
