Stockton man arrested for murder in San Jose shooting

A man from Stockton has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in East San Jose on August 26. San Jose police responded to a call at approximately 1:40 a.m. in a parking lot located on the 1700 block of Story Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, the victim was pronounced dead at a hospital shortly after being transported. Following the incident, homicide investigators worked diligently to identify the suspect. They were able to determine that 46-year-old Sergio Loya was responsible for the shooting and subsequently obtained an arrest warrant for him. On September 6, law enforcement located Loya in Stockton and took him into custody. Loya has been booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of murder and is currently being held without bail, as indicated by jail records.
