Great Britain's Toby Roberts has described his gold medal victory in sport climbing at the Paris 2024 Olympics as the "proudest moment" of his life. The win was unexpected for Roberts, who initially felt "incredibly happy" to secure a silver medal after his competitor, Anraku, fell short of the gold mark. This achievement marks a significant milestone for Team GB, as it is their first-ever gold medal in the sport climbing category, which made its Olympic debut in Tokyo three years ago. At just 10 years old, Roberts made headlines as the youngest Briton to conquer the challenging 8a Raindogs route at Malham Cove in North Yorkshire. Johnson-Thompson led the competition for much of the two-day event but ultimately finished second to Belgium's Nafissatou Thiam, who claimed her third Olympic heptathlon title by a narrow margin of just 36 points.
