Story

MIAMI — A woman and her young son were hospitalized following a hit-and-run incident involving a delivery vehicle on Thursday morning in Northeast Miami-Dade. The collision occurred at the intersection of NE 191st St. and 7th Ave. within the Aventura Isles community. According to Miami-Dade Police, the driver, who was reportedly wearing a delivery-type vest, fled the scene after striking the pair. Initial speculation suggested that the driver might be an Amazon delivery person; however, police have not confirmed any connection to the company as of Thursday. The mother and child were quickly transported to a nearby hospital, where they are currently in stable condition. Local resident and nurse Cassie Kress witnessed the aftermath and rushed to assist the victims, expressing disbelief at the incident. In footage obtained by CBS News Miami, the driver can be seen briefly adjusting the stroller before leaving the scene without calling for help. Kress reported that police have identified the driver and are expected to make an arrest soon. She has been in contact with the victim's husband, who shared that while the mother has sustained a slight brain bleed, she is expected to recover, and the baby is also anticipated to be fine. The investigation continues as authorities work to hold the responsible party accountable.
