Gloucester is set to host its ninth annual Gloucester Goes Retro festival, a celebration of vintage cars, fashion, and music. Scheduled for August 24, starting at 10:00 BST, the event will see over 500 classic cars lining the historic Gate Streets and Gloucester Docks. This year, Kings Square will introduce a new Revival Zone featuring a vintage and antiques fair alongside a disco, enhancing the festival's appeal. Attendees can expect to see an impressive array of vintage vehicles, with models dating from 1900 to 1990, including renowned brands such as Aston Martin, Jensen, Bentley, Triumph, and Morris. The festival will also extend to Gloucester Docks, where visitors can enjoy more classic cars, a variety of food options, and live music performances on the Mariners Square Stage. In addition to the car displays, the festival will feature a Military Village next to the Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum, showcasing a REME 32-tonne recovery vehicle and a World War Two hellcat. A highlight of the event will be the 124-year-old schooner, Kathleen & May, the last British-built wooden hull, which will be open for public tours from 11:00 to 17:00. Councillor Caroline Courtney, cabinet member for culture and leisure at Gloucester City Council, emphasized the festival's significance, stating it is a highlight of the city's calendar, fostering a vibrant atmosphere and supporting local businesses while showcasing the beauty of Gloucester.
