Max has announced that "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga," the highly anticipated fifth installment in the Mad Max franchise, will begin streaming on its platform starting August 16. This film serves as a spinoff prequel to the critically acclaimed "Mad Max: Fury Road," which was released in 2015. The film stars Anya Taylor-Joy in the titular role of young Furiosa, a character originally portrayed by Charlize Theron in "Fury Road." The storyline follows young Furiosa as she is captured from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the clutches of a formidable Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus, played by Chris Hemsworth. As the narrative unfolds, Furiosa navigates the treacherous Wasteland and encounters the Citadel, ruled by the tyrannical Immortan Joe, portrayed by Lachy Hulme. Directed by George Miller, a co-creator of the Mad Max series, "Furiosa" promises to deliver the same high-octane action and gripping storytelling that fans have come to expect. Miller co-wrote the film alongside Nico Lathouris, ensuring a continuation of the franchise's legacy. In addition to Taylor-Joy and Hemsworth, the cast features Tom Burke, John Howard, Angus Sampson, Nathan Jones, Josh Helman, and Elsa Pataky, rounding out a talented ensemble. As the release date approaches, excitement builds for this new chapter in the Mad Max universe.
