Woman Arrested for Assaulting Puppy in Santa Ana

Santa Ana police have apprehended a woman who was filmed deliberately running over a two-month-old puppy on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. on Dahl Lane, where a Chevrolet Suburban was seen driving through a neighborhood. According to police, the driver exited the vehicle, appeared to let the puppy out, and then returned to intentionally run over the animal before fleeing the scene. A good Samaritan, hearing the puppy's cries, rushed to provide assistance. Meanwhile, the driver returned to the location but chose to leave again without offering help. The injured puppy, a female Rottweiler, was quickly taken to a local animal hospital by Animal Control Officers, where she underwent emergency surgery for a broken rib cage. Fortunately, she is expected to recover fully and is currently being cared for at the Orange County Animal Shelter. Following the release of the initial police report, the woman involved in the incident turned herself in to authorities. She has since been arrested and booked on charges of animal cruelty.
