Man's Suicide at Citi Field

A man was fatally struck by a train outside Citi Field on Saturday evening in what authorities are treating as an apparent suicide. The incident occurred just as a New York Mets game was concluding, with police reporting that a train operator witnessed the man walking on a catwalk before lying down on the tracks in front of a southbound 7 train around 6 p.m. The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The timing of the tragedy coincided with the end of the Mets' home game against the Miami Marlins, which they won in a shutout. As news of the incident spread, it caused significant disruptions to the 7 train service, leading to delays in both directions as fans exited the ballpark.
