Story

In early January 2025, Texas Department of Public Safety troopers apprehended Victor Antonio Olan De La Cruz, a previously deported Mexican migrant, while he attempted to evade capture along a private ranch in Maverick County. Olan De La Cruz had illegally re-entered the United States after being granted supervised release by the Biden administration in September 2024, which allowed him to leave Mexico two months later. His re-entry, however, raised legal concerns as he had a history of deportation. The troopers, utilizing a K-9 team, tracked him down alongside a group of other unauthorized immigrants.
