Story

ST. CLOUD, Minn. — A 35-year-old man from St. Cloud was arrested Monday night after allegedly causing five separate vehicle crashes while under the influence of alcohol. The incidents began when the suspect drove into a stop sign at the intersection of Eighth Avenue North and Sixth Street North, subsequently colliding with two parked vehicles. In a dramatic turn, the man reportedly rear-ended a van driven by a 48-year-old man, prompting the victim to exit the vehicle. The suspect then jumped into the driver's seat of the van, dragging the victim a short distance in the process. The victim sustained minor injuries while attempting to prevent the theft of his vehicle. Following the carjacking, the suspect continued his reckless behavior, crashing the stolen van into three additional vehicles. The final crash occurred on the 1200 block of 29th Avenue North, where the suspect attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by police shortly thereafter. Authorities reported that all five crashes resulted in minor injuries. The suspect is currently facing multiple charges, including carjacking, theft of a motor vehicle, reckless driving, careless driving, hit and run, and driving under the influence. The police continue to investigate the incidents as they assess the full extent of the damages and injuries involved.
