In Colorado, evacuations have been mandated due to the Cottonwood Flat Fire burning actively in Garfield County. The Garfield County Emergency Community Relations Authority issued an alert on Thursday at approximately 3:22 p.m., instructing all residents living within one mile of 1800 County Road 309 to evacuate without delay. This decision reflects the escalating situation of the fire, which is situated near Parachute and Battlement Mesa, specifically to the east of Battlement Creek. Moreover, the Grand Valley Fire Protection District has requested pre-evacuation measures for a two-mile perimeter surrounding the fire zone, indicating the fire's proximity to populated areas.
