Australia's cricket captain, Pat Cummins, has indicated a strategic shift in the upcoming five-test series against India, set to commence on November 22 in Perth. With the aim of reclaiming the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Cummins plans to utilize all-rounders Cameron Green and Mitchell Marsh more extensively as bowlers throughout the series. The matches will take place across various Australian cities, including Adelaide, Brisbane, and Melbourne, culminating in Sydney on January 3. Cummins noted that the previous summers featured relatively quick test matches, but he anticipates a different pace this season. He emphasized the importance of having a fifth bowling option, particularly highlighting Green's potential to contribute more with the ball, despite his recent focus on batting. The captain expressed confidence in the team's depth, stating, "We have six" bowling options available, which includes the experienced Nathan Lyon. In preparation for the demanding series, Cummins will forgo the white-ball tour of England and Scotland in September to manage his workload effectively. The 31-year-old fast bowler has been granted a two-month break by Cricket Australia, allowing him to focus on physical conditioning and recovery. He aims to return to peak form for the one-day series against Pakistan in November and the Sheffield Shield matches, stating, āIām just trying to fill up the bucket again after two years of nonstop bowling.ā
