In South Korea on December 12, 2024, BOS Semiconductors and Tenstorrent announced the introduction of Eagle-N, the first automotive AI accelerator chiplet System on Chip (SoC). This innovative technology is designed specifically for the automotive sector, intended to boost the performance of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) systems. Eagle-N features the Tensix NPU core, developed by Tenstorrent, delivering up to 250 TOPS NPU performance. This performance enhances the AI capabilities and energy efficiency essential for modern automotive systems. The CES2025 exhibition will showcase the Eagle-N, allowing attendees to experience its capabilities firsthand at the Venetian Expo, Halls A-D, booth 50017. The chip integrates high-speed interfaces, such as PCIe gen5 and UCIe, making it adaptable for existing ADAS and IVI systems. Manufacturers can easily implement Eagle-N to upgrade their current setups, improving AI performance while maximizing cost-effectiveness. In addition to the Eagle-N, BOS Semiconductors is developing the Eagle-A, another component of the Eagle ADAS Chiplet SoC family. This one-chip ADAS SoC will work in conjunction with Eagle-N to support a broader range of ADAS functionalities and autonomous driving applications. The collaboration between BOS and Tenstorrent is seen as a critical development moment for the automotive industry, highlighted by comments from leaders in both companies expressing excitement and confidence in the project. BOS Semiconductors, which is led by Dr. Jaehong Park, is known for its innovative approaches to automotive semiconductor solutions. The company's initiatives are bolstered by the experience of its leadership, particularly Dr. Park’s background as a former executive at Samsung Semiconductor. Meanwhile, Tenstorrent is recognized for its advanced systems and expertise in AI architecture, with support from significant investors like Eclipse Ventures and Real Ventures. This partnership and the resulting technology signify a meaningful leap forward in the capabilities of automotive systems and the overall trajectory of automotive AI applications.
