- The subscription aims to provide affordable and flexible travel options within Europe.
LONDON — Budget airline Wizz Air has introduced an innovative travel subscription service, allowing European travelers to take unlimited flights for an annual fee of 499 euros ($550). This "all you can fly" pass enables passengers to book one-way and roundtrip flights to various international destinations, including Athens, Madrid, Paris, and Reykjavik. The introductory price is available until Friday, after which it will increase to 599 euros. Bookings can be made up to three days before departure, with a flat fee of 9.99 euros applied to each flight, and additional charges for luggage beyond a personal item. The airline plans to offer 10,000 memberships for this new service, although availability will depend on various factors. This launch follows similar subscription models from U.S. carriers, such as Frontier Airlines, which introduced a comparable pass for North American routes. While some European airlines provide multiflight bundles, the concept of unlimited flight packages is relatively new in the region. Wizz Air's move comes amid challenges for the airline, including a reported 44% decline in first-quarter operating profit and a low customer satisfaction rating of 44%, placing it at the bottom of a recent ranking by consumer group Which? CEO Jozsef Varadi acknowledged that supply constraints and inflationary pressures are affecting the company's outlook and consumer demand. As the travel industry continues to recover from the pandemic, Wizz Air's subscription service aims to attract customers and boost its performance in a competitive market.
