On India's 78th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with athletes who represented the nation at the Paris 2024 Olympics. A video shared on social media captured Modi taking photos with medal winners, including notable athletes such as Manu Bhaker, Sarabjot Singh, Aman Sehrawat, and members of the Indian men's hockey team. India achieved a commendable total of six medals at the Olympics, highlighted by Neeraj Chopra's silver in the men's javelin throw. Among the standout performers, 22-year-old shooter Manu Bhaker earned two bronze medals in the women's 10m Air Pistol and the mixed team 10m Air Pistol events, narrowly missing a third medal in the 25m Air Pistol event. Additionally, Swapnil Kusale secured bronze in the 50m Air Rifle shooting 3P, while Aman Sehrawat triumphed in the Men's freestyle wrestling 57 KG category. The Indian men's hockey team also celebrated success, clinching bronze after defeating Spain. During his address at the Red Fort, Modi congratulated the athletes for their achievements and expressed India's ambition to host the 2036 Olympics.
