In South Korea, Mirae Asset Global Investments announced that as of the end of June 2025, it manages more than $300 billion in assets. This growth represents an increase of approximately $50 billion in assets since December 2024, when the total stood at $256.1 billion. A significant portion of this amount, about 45%, is allocated to international markets, including countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, India, Vietnam, and Brazil. This international presence reflects the firm's strategy to diversify its portfolio and tap into lucrative global markets. The firm emphasized that its exchange-traded fund (ETF) business played a vital role in this growth, specifically noting that ETF assets under management have reached around $150 billion as of June 2025. The company's approach to expansion not only includes organic growth but also significant inorganic strategies. Notable acquisitions include Horizons ETFs in Canada in 2011, which was later rebranded to Global X Canada, followed by the acquisition of Global X in the United States in 2018, and ETF Securities in Australia in 2022. These moves have allowed Mirae Asset to enhance its global footprint in the ETF sector. The overall ETF industry has witnessed a substantial increase, with total assets invested globally rising by $2.14 trillion in the first half of 2025, culminating in a record $16.99 trillion by the end of June. Mirae Asset's growth has significantly outpaced the industry average; over the past ten years, Mirae Asset has achieved a compound annual growth rate of 34.4%, while the average growth rate for global ETF operators stands at 17.8%. This indicates the firm's strong positioning and adeptness in capturing market share within a rapidly growing sector. Furthermore, analysts predict the ETF market could approach $30 trillion by 2029, suggesting that Mirae Asset's strategic decisions today are being made in anticipation of future growth within this asset class. The firm's focus on global markets, coupled with its effective growth strategies, has established it as a formidable player in investment management, reflecting an increasingly competitive and dynamic landscape in the investment sector.
