The original location, founded by Howard Johnson in 1969, served as a family favorite for years. Joe and Nachi Shea, who have longed for its return and grew up enjoying meals there, purchased the rights and trademarks from the former ownership group. Their aim is to restore the beloved restaurant to its former glory while incorporating modern elements to appeal to today’s diners. The Sheas are currently renovating a closed restaurant building to recreate The Ground Round's iconic ambiance. They shared that significant progress has been made with bathroom renovations and nearly completed painting. Joe Shea emphasized the importance of creating a welcoming atmosphere reminiscent of the restaurant's heyday, where families gathered to enjoy good food and connect with their community.
