A Chinese national, Zijie Li, has been arrested for allegedly attempting to enter Mar-a-Lago, the Palm Beach club owned by former President Donald Trump, while claiming to possess documents linking China to a July 13 assassination attempt on Trump. According to police reports, Li made several attempts to access the property between July 19 and July 30, initially approaching Secret Service agents at the estate's entrance and asserting he had critical information. Li's first attempt occurred on July 19, when he drove a gray Toyota Prius to the main entrance and was informed by Secret Service that he was trespassing. Following this encounter, he received a written warning from the Palm Beach Police Department, which explicitly prohibited him from returning to the property. Despite this warning, Li was seen on July 22 driving over the Royal Park Bridge, which connects the club to the mainland, while Trump was present at Mar-a-Lago. On July 30, Li attempted to approach the club again, prompting another police intervention. Officers noted that his GPS was set to Mar-a-Lago's address. Although he was allowed to leave, he was spotted shortly after in the vicinity of the club. Li was ultimately arrested the following day at an intersection near Mar-a-Lago, facing a misdemeanor trespassing charge. His next court appearance is scheduled for Monday, while the details of the documents he claimed to possess remain undisclosed.
