American Red Cross seeks volunteers for Hurricane recovery efforts in the Southeast

In the aftermath of Hurricane Milton, which caused significant flooding and deadly tornadoes in Florida, the American Red Cross is actively engaged in recovery efforts. Jeff Hall, the regional communications manager for the organization, emphasized the importance of providing a comfortable environment for those displaced. Massachusetts has contributed around 50 volunteers to assist in the recovery, demonstrating a strong commitment to helping those affected. These volunteers are tasked with feeding and sheltering individuals from the Carolinas to Florida, often departing on short notice for at least two weeks. The Red Cross has already provided nearly three-quarters of a million hot meals since the onset of Hurricane Helene, showcasing the scale of their response efforts. To sustain these initiatives, the organization is seeking financial donations and additional volunteers. Hall noted that motivated individuals could be deployed to Florida within days, with training provided to ensure they are prepared for the challenges ahead.
