Uber driver shoots teenage girl after assault at Waffle House

However, when the Uber driver, 38-year-old Meredith Grundy, arrived, he informed the group that he could only transport four of them due to limited space and seatbelt availability. This limitation sparked a heated argument among the girls about who should cancel the ride. The argument escalated significantly when one of the teenage girls allegedly threatened to kill the driver and struck him in the face while he was inside the vehicle. The victim, a 16-year-old girl, was rushed to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta for treatment. Despite her critical injuries, she is expected to survive, as confirmed by medical personnel. Law enforcement officials apprehended Grundy shortly after the incident. He was subsequently charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during a felony. Following his arrest, Grundy was taken to DeKalb County Jail, but it was later confirmed that he has since been released on bond.
