Story

The BBC is set to launch a new six-part series titled "Made in Korea: The K-Pop Experience," premiering on August 17. The show, narrated by radio personality Vick Hope, follows five British boys—Blaise, Dexter, James, Oliver, and Reese—as they undergo an intensive K-pop training regimen with the aim of forming a new boy band called Dear Alice. The recently released trailer highlights the boys' enthusiasm as they dive into rigorous rehearsals. Filmed in South Korea, the series showcases the boys' immersion into K-pop culture, where they will endure 100 days of training under the guidance of SM Entertainment (SME), a powerhouse in the K-pop industry for over three decades. The training includes choreography, vocal lessons, performance coaching, and life skills, all set against the vibrant backdrop of Seoul and its iconic K-pop landmarks. However, the path to success is fraught with challenges, and the boys must prove their mettle in this demanding boot camp. The members of Dear Alice bring diverse backgrounds to the group, with ages ranging from 19 to 23. Blaise is a former BRIT school student, while Dexter and James have experience in content creation. Olly, a childhood chorister, and Reese, a former cruise ship performer, round out the lineup as they chase their dreams of pop stardom. In related news, Simon Cowell is on a quest to discover the next big boy band, reminiscent of One Direction, through a Netflix documentary titled "The Midas Touch." Cowell expressed uncertainty about the outcome but hinted at an innovative approach to the search, promising an exciting journey ahead.
