Tinder Encounter Leads to Gang Rape Allegations in Court
- Man gives his version of events in the gang rape trial in Belmore, Sydney.
- Woman alleges she was raped after meeting on Tinder for group sex.
- The trial continues at Sydney's Downing Centre District Court.
A man accused of facilitating a gang rape involving three friends has testified that the alleged victim consented to group sex. During the trial, Kabbout claimed that the 23-year-old woman, whom he met on Tinder, expressed interest in exploring group sexual experiences. He stated that their conversation suggested she was open to the idea, asserting that she was "very detailed about the stuff she was into." Kabbout recounted how he communicated with his friends about the woman, indicating that she might be interested in group sex. He maintained that he had not arranged for his friends to engage in sexual acts with her without her consent, insisting that any interactions were consensual. He noted that while he informed his friends that the woman had not explicitly agreed to group sex, he believed there was still a possibility she would be receptive. Contrarily, the alleged victim provided a starkly different account, describing a situation where she felt coerced. She testified that after Kabbout left the room, she overheard the men discussing her in a language she did not understand. When she expressed her discomfort and desire for them to leave, Kabbout allegedly dismissed her concerns, stating, "Not yet." The woman recounted that she was subsequently raped by multiple men, each following the other into the room, further complicating the narrative of consent presented by Kabbout.
