Man arrested for multiple break-ins in Somerville

In the United States, authorities in San Mateo County arrested Ronald D. Simpson, a 46-year-old man from Castro Valley, after he made an unsuccessful attempt to break into the Stanford National Accelerator Laboratory. The incident occurred on the evening of January 5, 2025, when deputies were alerted to a suspicious individual reported to be carrying bolt cutters at the laboratory, which is located on a sprawling 400-acre property in Menlo Park. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies began to search for the individual, who was subsequently identified as Simpson. Simpson attempted to escape on foot towards Interstate 280 but was apprehended by deputies who established a perimeter and deployed a K-9 unit. As the search unfolded, authorities discovered that Simpson had hidden himself in dense shrubs and subsequently took him into custody. During the investigation, law enforcement officials recovered various burglary tools and noted damage to a fence at the site.
