Dallas Stars Celebrate Hispanic Heritage This Saturday at PNC Plaza

The Dallas Stars are celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with a special event aimed at engaging their Latino fan base. On September 21, from 4 to 6 p.m., the team will host a Hispanic Heritage Party at PNC Plaza, just before their preseason opener at the American Airlines Center. This event will feature various activities, including face painting, music, and food, creating a vibrant atmosphere that reflects Latin culture. Al Montoya, the Dallas Stars Vice President of Cultural Growth and Strategy, emphasized the importance of celebrating Hispanic culture, drawing from his own background as the first Cuban American to play in the NHL. He shared how his upbringing in a bilingual household shaped his appreciation for cultural traditions and family celebrations. The organization is committed to expanding hockey's reach within the Hispanic community through various initiatives, such as the Future Stars program and outreach efforts in local schools and community centers. Montoya has also participated in teaching hockey in Mexico City, furthering the team's mission to promote the sport among underrepresented groups.
