Police Inspector Injured in Kothrud Attack by Bike-Borne Assailants

On August 25, a police inspector named Ratnadeep Gaikwad was attacked in Kothrud while responding to a reported quarrel near the Sasane Nagar railway gate. The assailants, believed to be part of the notorious koyta gang, used a machete to inflict serious injuries to Gaikwad's head before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle. Fortunately, he is currently out of danger and receiving medical treatment. Gaikwad is affiliated with the Wanavdi police station. The incident has raised significant concerns regarding public safety and law enforcement effectiveness in Pune. Political figures, including NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule, have criticized Maharashtra's Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis, questioning the apparent lack of fear criminals have towards the police.
