Exploring a Family Loft in Tribeca's Iconic Cast Iron House

In New York City, Timothy Godbold designed a 4,250-square-foot loft for a family of four in the historic Cast Iron House located in Tribeca. The design merges industrial charm with modern elegance, utilizing a neutral color palette and rich textures to create a warm atmosphere. The loft's expansive layout allows natural light to enhance its soaring ceilings, making it a functional space for a young family that enjoys entertaining. Godbold's creative process was inspired by a 1970s sci-fi series and Italian industrial design, incorporating Art Deco elements and geometric shapes to add texture. The homeowners, referred by a friend, appreciated Godbold's creative independence and vision, which ultimately aligned with their desires for the space. Most furnishings were custom-made, including unique stucco and marble walls and stone furniture upholstered with custom fabric. The collaboration resulted in a design that reflects the family's lifestyle while preserving the loft's unique character.
