  • The lawsuit alleges discrimination against the executive's bladder ailment.
Story

Richard Becker, a former salesman at Lenovo, has filed a $1.5 million lawsuit against the company, claiming wrongful termination after an incident at a Times Square hotel. Becker, who suffers from a serious bladder condition, alleges he was forced to urinate in the hotel’s vestibule after a business meeting when he could not make it back to his room in time. He asserts that he had visited the restroom multiple times during the meal but was overwhelmed on the return walk to the hotel. The lawsuit states that Lenovo was fully aware of Becker's bladder issues, which are classified as a disability under the law. Becker contends that he was terminated without notice or severance just four days after the incident, despite his strong performance as a Global Account Sales Executive since joining the company in 2022. He claims to have achieved significant business growth and received accolades during his tenure. Becker's account details that a Lenovo vice president witnessed the incident and reported it to Human Resources. However, a Westin employee disputed Becker's description of the location, stating that the hotel has public restrooms and that no area referred to as a "vestibule" exists. Becker's lawsuit also highlights that his bladder condition is minor compared to other alleged misconduct by Lenovo employees, including a past incident involving intoxicated staff. Lenovo has not yet responded to requests for comment regarding the lawsuit.
