Story

Residents of Yawat in Daund taluka are facing significant challenges due to a reduction in Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML) services. This village, located along the Pune-Solapur highway, previously enjoyed reliable public transport, which is crucial for the local population as most of their transactions are linked to Pune city. The recent cutbacks in PMPML trips were made following a request from the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), which has further complicated travel for residents. The situation has worsened as MSRTC buses have shifted to using the highway instead of the service road, leading to an unpredictable schedule for stops at Yawat. This change has caused considerable inconvenience for the local community, who rely on these services for their daily commutes and errands. The lack of reliable transport options has made it increasingly difficult for residents to access essential services in Pune. In light of these issues, Baramati MP Supriya Sule has taken action by urging the State Transport Minister to designate Yawat as a permanent stop on the service road. She has also called for the installation of a shelter shed for passengers waiting for buses, which would provide some relief to those affected by the service reductions. Additionally, Sule has appealed to the Municipal Commissioner of Pune to instruct PMPML to restore the previous levels of service to Yawat. By increasing the number of trips, the aim is to enhance passenger comfort and accessibility, ultimately improving the quality of life for residents who depend on public transport.
