In a significant development, two individuals have been arrested in connection with a cold case homicide that occurred in East San Jose in November 2020. Police announced on Friday that 20-year-old Hulizes Garcia-Urista was taken into custody on Tuesday, facing charges of murder. The following day, 29-year-old Jairo Ortiz Plancarte was arrested on suspicion of being an accessory after the fact. Both suspects are believed to be linked to a shooting incident that left one victim dead. The shooting took place on the evening of November 20, 2020, on the 2200 block of Orlando Drive. Authorities reported that the victim was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds while seated in his vehicle. Despite being rushed to a local hospital, he later succumbed to his injuries. The identity of the victim has not been disclosed by the police. Following the incident, the shooter fled the scene in a gold 1990s Lexus sedan. In a bid to generate leads in this and other cold cases, police released a surveillance image of the vehicle on August 1, which proved instrumental in advancing the investigation. The public's assistance was sought, and the bulletin reportedly played a crucial role in solving the homicide case. Currently, both Garcia-Urista and Plancarte are being held without bail and are scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
