Minneapolis man arrested for fentanyl distribution in SUV

In late July, Minneapolis police executed a search warrant on an SUV owned by 28-year-old Tyrone Antwan Carter Jr., who is now facing multiple federal charges related to fentanyl distribution. The police located the vehicle in a parking lot in north Minneapolis, which led to a brief pursuit that ended with the SUV spinning out of control. Officers apprehended Carter after a short struggle, during which they discovered a loaded Glock 26 9mm pistol equipped with a 'switch' or 'auto sear' and an extended magazine. Upon searching the trunk, authorities found a diaper bag containing a significant quantity of 'purple powder,' later identified as fentanyl, along with numerous baggies and rubber gloves. These items suggest that Carter was involved in drug trafficking activities. Carter has been charged with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, possession of a firearm as a felon, possession of a machine gun, and carrying a firearm during a drug trafficking crime. Currently, Carter remains in custody, although details regarding his next court appearance have not been disclosed.
