Sotheby’s is set to captivate music enthusiasts with its inaugural pop culture auction, showcasing a range of historic items from the music industry. The auction will feature notable pieces, including a Steinway grand piano used in Abbey Road Studios, which has been associated with artists like Amy Winehouse and Lady Gaga. This piano, purchased in 1973, is estimated to fetch between £150,000 and £200,000. The auction will also include a VOX HDC-77 guitar played by the late Prince, valued at £200,000 to £300,000. The online auction will commence on August 29 and run for two weeks, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of Oasis's classic album *Definitely Maybe*, which is being reissued. Among the items for bid are two guitars owned by Noel Gallagher during the album's recording, including an Epiphone Les Paul Standard, estimated at £60,000 to £80,000, and a 1980 Gibson Flying V previously owned by Johnny Marr of The Smiths, valued at £20,000 to £30,000. In addition to these iconic instruments, the auction will feature memorabilia from John Lennon’s 1969 ‘Bed-in For Peace’ protest, including handwritten letters and a colorful pen drawing, with estimates ranging from £15,000 to £90,000. A dedicated exhibition will be held at Sotheby’s New Bond Street Galleries from September 9, allowing fans to view these remarkable pieces of music history before the auction concludes.
