Story

A graphic designer and artist from Byker, Newcastle, has made a name for himself in the music industry by designing album covers for renowned artists such as Kasabian, Aretha Franklin, and The Rolling Stones. He emphasizes the importance of personal connection to the music, stating, "I won't ever do a project if I don't like the music." His experience with AC/DC opened his eyes to the band's extensive catalog, showcasing his passion for the art he creates. Utilizing a Risograph printer, known for its vibrant colors and unique textures, the designer has embraced this tool, which has gained popularity in the graphic design field over the past two decades. He describes the Risograph as a "punchy machine" that often leads to "happy accidents" during the creative process, particularly when working with fluorescent colors. Jimmy's artistic journey began in childhood, where he would create narrative structures with simple stick figures. After spending 20 years in London, he returned to the North East with his wife and established his workspace at The Biscuit Tin Studios in Ouseburn, Newcastle. Recently, he completed a project with Kasabian and is currently collaborating with Penguin Books on a re-release of George Orwell's "1984." Looking ahead, Jimmy expresses a desire to work with music legends like Stevie Wonder or the German electronic band Kraftwerk, highlighting his aspirations to continue blending his artistic vision with the world of music.
