Story

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) β€” Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout has reported encouraging news regarding his recovery from a left knee injury. Speaking before the Angels' game against Oakland, Trout expressed relief, stating, β€œIt is a huge relief for me. I just want to make sure it feels good, and then go and get back out there.” Trout recently began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Salt Lake but had to exit early due to knee soreness. The soreness was attributed to scar tissue breaking up in his knee while jogging, a development that Trout described as frustrating, especially since he had felt no discomfort leading up to the incident. After just two innings of play, he returned to Southern California for further examination. Initially, Trout's recovery timeline following surgery was estimated at six to eight weeks, but the process has been slower than anticipated. Trout is expected to resume running in the coming days, pending clearance from medical staff. Angels manager Phil Nevin emphasized the importance of Trout being fully prepared before returning to the field. Since the start of the 2021 season, Trout has faced significant injury challenges, playing only 266 games and missing 324. His struggles include a strained calf in 2021 and a back injury that sidelined him for five weeks in 2022, highlighting the ongoing challenges he faces in his career.
