Justin Timberlake has entered a not guilty plea regarding a driving while intoxicated (DWI) charge following his arrest in June in Sag Harbor, New York. The singer attended the hearing virtually, responding affirmatively to questions posed by Village Justice Carl Irace. The session was primarily procedural, during which the judge cautioned Timberlake’s attorney, Edward Burke, about making comments to the media outside of court. Timberlake's arrest occurred after police observed him driving a 2025 BMW erratically, failing to stop at a stop sign and maintain his lane. Officers reported that Timberlake exhibited signs of intoxication, including slowed speech and unsteadiness, and performed poorly on field sobriety tests. According to court records, Timberlake claimed he had consumed only one martini and was following friends home at the time of the incident. During a previous hearing in late July, Burke contested the arrest, asserting that police had made significant errors and that Timberlake was not intoxicated. This assertion was reiterated during Friday's hearing, as Burke maintained that the evidence did not support the DWI charge. Timberlake is currently on tour in Europe promoting his latest album, “Everything I Thought It Was.” The recent hearing was a rescheduled arraignment due to alleged paperwork errors, with another conference hearing set for August 9, where Timberlake's presence is not mandatory.
