- This collaboration aims to enhance mineral resource development in Oman and support MDO's strategic vision.
On September 19, 2024, Viridien was awarded a significant remote sensing program by Minerals Development Oman (MDO), the foremost mining organization in Oman. This initiative aims to identify, map, and rank mineralization potential across seven concessions, encompassing an area of 16,000 km². The collaboration is part of MDO's strategic efforts to enhance the exploration of mineral resources in the region. Viridien's team will employ advanced technologies, including machine learning and high-performance computing, to develop innovative Bare Earth Plus models. These models will integrate various data sources, such as multi- and hyperspectral satellite imagery, structural data, airborne geophysical data, and gamma-ray spectrometry. This comprehensive approach is designed to support MDO in pinpointing mineral potential specifically in the Samail and Masirah Ophiolites. MDO's CEO, Nasser Al Maqbali, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting the commitment to utilizing AI tools and modern solutions in their operations. This collaboration is expected to enhance MDO's capabilities in mineral exploration and contribute to the sustainable development of Oman's mineral resources. Peter Whiting, EVP of Geoscience at Viridien, emphasized the company's extensive experience in supporting mineral exploration projects. The partnership aims to facilitate more efficient decision-making for mine operators throughout the mining lifecycle, ultimately contributing to a sustainable future for Oman.
