Dunwoody enforces strict limits on vape shops near schools and daycares

In the United States, the City of Dunwoody has taken significant steps to combat youth vaping by passing a new ordinance. On August 10, 2026, the Dunwoody City Council unanimously approved regulations that prevent vape shops from opening in certain areas of the city. Under the new regulations, any potential vape shop must be located in commercial districts and adhere to specific distance requirements. These include being at least 600 feet away from daycare facilities, schools, and places of worship, as well as 1,500 feet from another vape shop or gas station. Amy Halligan, a member of Dunwoody Strong, a parent-run support group focused on substance abuse awareness and mental health, expressed her concerns regarding the issue. Halligan emphasized the need for community action to address the challenges posed by vaping, stating that the clever packaging and presentation of these products significantly contribute to their appeal among youth.
